Paradigm shifts for 15 Key Events
This is an old entry but it always catches me. I found this scattergraph on Wikipedia (where else?). It talks about the increased frequency between paradigm-shifting events.
What really interests me is that extrapolating the curve suggests that the events that change EVERYTHING not only occur more frequently but take a shorter time to have their impact.
My suspicion is that even this curve is inaccurate because the increasing connectedness of the net – especially with the advent of technologies such as the Semantic Web – will cause the impact of these shifts to filter though the socio-technological mire that much quicker.
Every day is a new world. But tomorrow it’s a wholly different world. And tomorrow afternoon the morning will seem passe.
